HOW TO REPLACE WINDOW REGULATOR on 2007 Chrysler Sebring - Window Dropped Down Into Door on Left Driver Side

What do you do when your car window fall down into the door? You get it up immediately to prevent rain, crooks, and thieves from entering your car. This blog shows a video I found on YouTube describing exactly what I did to fix this problem. The video provide tips on tools and precautions before attempting this repair.

The replacement window regulator cost less than $75 with $10.00 shipping charge when purchased online through a local vendor. After following the video above, it was so easy to install. I suggest that you take your time when releasing the white clips from the glass, and remove the entire glass from the door.

Don't worry about breaking the white plastic clips during removal. The new window regulator comes with pre-assembled clips, tracks, and cables.

Remember to lubricate the window tracks, rubber trim moldings, and felt trim liners that rubs against the glass with a quality silicone spray  lubricant. Do not use oil to lubricate rubber parts, it will deteriorate the rubber.

It's really easy - give it a try!

2005 PORSCHE CAYENNE BATTERY REPLACEMENT - Easy Repair Guide for Do It Yourself Car Owners

There was no video on YouTube on how to change out a battery in the 2005 Porsche Cayenne, so I'm having to depend on the owners manual for removing the battery. The owners manual suggests that you start by turning off all accessories before battery removal.

The battery is located under the driver's seat. The removal includes...
1. Removing the trim covering the front seat mounting bolts, and then removing the two front seat bolts.

2. You will need a 10MM 12 Point star wrench (male-type) to remove the front seat bolts. The tool cost me $4.50 at NAPA Auto Supply stores.

3. After removing the two screws, move the seat forward and then tip the seat backwards to gain access to the battery case entrance.

5. Lift the carpeting at the lower seat base and remove the carpeted battery cover by pulling outward and then upward on the carpeted battery trim that covers the battery.

6. Disconnect the battery vent hoses and remove the battery hold-down clamp and bolt.

7. Remove the negative battery terminal and then the positive terminal - now remove the battery.

The replacement battery was ordered from O'reilly's Auto Parts - it was the Super Start Extreme #94REXT - with 750 CCA, 20Ah Rate 80.

8. Reverse the removal procedures to install the new battery

9. Keep in mind that batteries produce and explosive hydrogen gas when charging. Do not create a spark when handling tools or when removing terminals or connecting or removing battery charging equipment.

10. That's about it! You're done!

MAKE MONEY WITH YOUR CAR - Ridesharing with UBER!

Uber is a ridesharing service that uses its own smartphone app to connect passengers with drivers. Uber offers metered and time-based taxi pricing. All payments are handled by credit cards through Uber. Uber suggests a no tipping rule, however passengers who wish to tip may do so through cash transactions with the driver. Uber prides itself on easy use of technology, lower costs, punctuality, safety and convenience of drivers and passengers, and vehicle comfort.

Where is Uber Currently Available? Huge list of Cities That Allow Uber Services - Click Here!

Uber actively recruits drivers on Craigslist/Facebook and make claims to potential drivers of $90,000 per year. According to job recruitment ads I've seen, drivers generally take home 80 percent of the fares collected - not including gas, insurance, and car maintenance. Top Uber drivers in major metropolitan cities reported earnings of $20 to 35 per hour in fares.

To be recuited as an Uber driver...
You must be 21 years old (23+ in some cities), have a 4-door car (2005 or newer), have a driver’s license, insurance, and "clean driving record."

Many traditional cab customers are turning to Uber for service because they like paying 15 to 30 percent less in taxi costs. If traditional cab services are going to compete with ridesharing services, they'd better step-up their game and include more high technology communication and tracking services, offer clean and luxury cars, provide friendly services, and lower their prices to be more inline with consumer demands. The biggest complaint with Uber drivers is that many are unfamiliar with locations, and sometimes must depend on passengers for directions and assistance.

Count the costs for yourself! Uber is still a great option for both drivers and passengers alike!

HOW TO CLEAN AC DRAIN on 1994 - 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee! Easy Repair from Inside the Car!

Fixing Blocked AC Drain on 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2L

This blog is a compilation of videos I found  on YouTube to fix a problem with the AC drain on my 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. These videos were made by YouTubers based on what they did to fix their AC drain problem and is in no way considered a recommended repair procedure by Jeep. Please be warned that Jeep does not recommend any of the procedures found in these videos. These videos are intended to assist car owners in saving money on car repairs by doing the work themselves. Any damage done to your vehicle by following these videos is at your own risk!

WK Jeep Grand Cherokee - AC Drain Fix (2005-2010)

Jeep recommends pulling the dashboard and removing the evaporator core from the housing as the method for cleaning and unclogging the AC drain. Keep in mind that prevention is always the best solution to this problem - try to avoid parking your car under trees with falling leaves or pine needles for prolong periods of time. These tend to work their way into the fresh air vents leading to clogged air conditioning drains. Any leaves trapped in the windshield wiper area should be hand picked away from your water drains.

2006 Grand Cherokee Clogged A/C Drain

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOgbF-yJQv4

Labor cost plus parts for pulling a dashboard and manually cleaning the evaporator case can cost you nearly $1,000. The methods in this video can be done by the average Do It Yourself (DIY) car owner in less than one hour at zero cost. If you feel that you have the tools and skills to attempt this repair - why not save some money by doing it yourself.

These videos helped me - maybe they will help you!

CHRYSLER 300 HEADLIGHT FLICKER Problem - Video Support and Repair Guide

Complaint: Headlight Flickers When Light Switch is Turned On

One inherited problem with 2005 and 2006 Chrysler 300 is flickering headlights caused by a faulty headlight switch. It appears that after several hundred applications of the switch in headlight, park, and dimmer positions - the mechanical terminals or connectors inside the switch becomes pitted an loses contact, creating a "make and break connection" in the headlight circuit. This is a normal wearing condition, and the failure rate appears to be quite numerous for these vehicles.

Before attempting any electrical repairs around or near the dashboard, always 1) disconnect the negative battery terminal and 2) remove the airbag fuse(s). This will prevent accidental deployment of the airbags and the risk of personal injury. If you feel uncomfortable about performing a headlight switch replacement, seek the service of a certified automotive technician.

The headlight switch is designed with an internal circuit-breaker. A circuit-breaker is similar to a fuse, but it is heat sensitive to stop current from flowing during an overload - then it quickly cools and allow current to start flowing again. This fail-safe method allows emergency lighting without total "black-out" of the headlights. Flickering headlights create a road hazard and must be repaired immediately.

The headlight switch can be safely replaced if you follow manufacturer's procedures. The replacement cost for a headlight switch at my local Oreilly's Auto Parts store is $60.00 Make sure you take the old switch with you and/or specify the following: with/without fog lights, with/without automatic headlights, and number of terminals.

That's about it!

Go ahead and give it a try!

It's really easy!

CONNECTING 2 WI-FI ROUTERS to Your Home Network to Handle More Internet Traffic and Streaming Videos

Click on the photo to expand the size
In this blog, I'll describe how I wired a Linksys WRT54GSV4 802.11g Router into a newer Belkin 450 DB 802.11n router. Both routers were wired for internet access through Centurylink Westell DSL modem. The reason I wired the two routers together was to prevent lag on my internet connection when all devices were activated in my home.
Because I am so frugal with money, I did not throw away the old router - besides, my DSL speed is slow (only 1.5 Mbps) and does not require major speed upgrades. The main reason I purchased the Belkin router was because of its 1) unique security features and advanced firewall protection, and 2) ability to offer dual connections on multiple network channels. Besides, the old Linksys router was having a hard time staying connected to my ISP during thunderstorms. Since the Linksys router was still good, I decided to use both on my network.
The Belkin N450 DB will handle my cell phone, iPad, MacBook, and Vizio Netflix and wireless internet traffic. The Linksys G router will handle the older Windows 7 and Windows XP laptops and desktop units wired for internet use.
To get started - you'll connect your new router (Belkin N450 DB) to the ISP Westell modem, and use a wireless device (cell phone, tablet or laptop) to configure your device...
1. Unbox the new Belkin router and follow the simple 3-step setup procedures on the back of the box. Remove the card on the bottom of the router and enter your password.
2. Get the login and password for your DSL service by contacting your ISP. You also need to know your ISP connection type - static, dynamic, PPoE, or other connection types. Your ISP will give you all of this information during your router setup. Don't worry, it's really easy.
3. Turn on security following the instructions on your router. If you want to change your SSID name - you may do so at this time. As an option, you may leave it in the default mode "belkin.bbe
4. Save your settings and login to your wireless connection with the assigned network key or password.
5. Click on the wireless internet icon in the bottom tool bar and click "Connect."
6. Open up a web browser. Congratulations, your new Belkin N450 DB is now connected to the access point and the internet.
Next, you'll connect your old router to the new router. To get started...

Click on the photo to expand the size
1. Connect your old router to a second computer using an ethernet cable. Connect one end of the cable to any one of four (4) ethernet slots on the back of the router. Connect the other end of the cable to the ethernet port on the computer.
2. Type in the default IP or gateway for accessing the router functions. This address can be found in the instuctions on the router. The Linksys WRT54GSV4 uses 192.168.1.1. Now type in the default user name "admin" and password "admin"
3. Once inside, make sure the Linksys IP does not conflict with the Belkin IP. In my case, there was no conflict - the Belkin N450 DB router IP address was 192.168.2.1
4. Change the SSID name (if you prefer) and remember your login and password. If you want to bridge the routers together for extended range, read the articles at the bottom of this blog. If not, continue on with step 5.
5. Set "security" to the desired level - WPA/WPA2  and save your changes.
You're done with setup of the 2nd router.
6. To connect the two routers together, run and ethernet cable from any one of four (4) ports on the Belkin router to the "Internet" port or the "WLAN" on the Linksys router. Use the photo above to verify if your connections are correct.
7. Turn on your DSL or cable modem and let it power up, then turn on both routers and let them power up.
8. Test the wireless connection on your Belkin router for proper access point and internet connections.
9. Test the wireless connection on your Linksys router for proper access point and internet connections.
10. Organize your wires and you're done.
Please note, you can get a faster 802.11n connection on your Belkin router by turning off the 802.11g function and allow the Linksys router handle all 802.11g traffic and connections.
Read the article below (written by Eric Geier) that explains 8 uses for your old router - namely extending your wireless coverage, turning your 2nd router into a hotspot and offering free or paid wireless internet, providing gateways for network authentication, as well as enabling secure VPN connections.
